Muslims in Tralee used to pray in the Kerry General Hospital of the town till 1990s, as the Muslims in the town were mainly doctors. The hospital management was very accommodative.
Gradually the numbers of Muslims increased and people of other trades also started settling in Tralee and the need for an independent place for Prayers were acutely felt. So responsible Muslims, mainly doctors, came together and formed a society under which they could have Masjid to fulfil the needs of increasing numbers of the Muslims with in the legal system of the land.
