Muslim Welfare Association of Port Talbot (MWAPT) and Port Talbot Mosque and Islamic Centre was established in 2002 to serve the needs of the Muslim community of Port Talbot.
Located in the heart of Port Talbot town, MWAPT is a voluntary non-profit organisation. The mosque is solely run on contributions and donations from the local Muslim community.
The original building with a community centre that was used once a week for the Friday prayers (Jummah). With the help of the local muslim and non-muslim communities and local organisations, MWAPT were able to turn this centre in to fully purpose Mosque. Now, along with the weekly Friday's Sermon, Port Talbot Mosque holds the Five Daily Prayers in Congregation, weekly Qur'an and Arabic Classes for children and adults and holds various programs through out the year.
Port Talbot Mosque has and open door policy and regularly invites people and encourages them to visit regularly. The Mosque works closely with local organisations and schools and provides Islamic information and hold open days in order to build bridges with non-Muslim communities.
